Sanbona Rangers undergo Geology Training

Visit the latest Mantis Collection news. Visit the Mantis Collection news archive.

The Sanbona Rangers Department recently had the privilege of having John Almond on the Reserve doing some follow up training and mentoring regarding the fascinating geological aspects seen on Sanbona.

It was a much needed activity base and as one can see, all the Rangers wrote notes furiously, frantically trying to keep with John’s energetic pace.

John will finalize his Geological report for Sanbona and gave each Ranger their own abridged copy of this – their own geological manual, which he then promptly followed up with a test!!

To leave you with a thought – the base of the surrounding Warmwaterberg, Anysberg and Swartberg was laid down some 440 to 410 million years ago with the incredible folding of the Table mountain Super group only following some 250 million years ago – so when one drives around within Sanbona we really are travelling through time!!
